Successful BAP Workshops and Business Meetings Riga, Latvia, September 8-10, 2022!

Members of the Baikal Archaeology Project and guests have wrapped up a successful workshop – once again in beautiful Riga, Latvia (September 8-10, 2022). Welcome our new BAP team member, Dr. Larisa Savelieva!

We have a new BAP team member! Dr. Larisa Savelieva is an associate Professor at the Institute of Earth Sciences, St. Petersburg State University, Russia. Her research interests include pollen analysis, climate and vegetation changes during the Late Pleistocene and Holocene, and human impact on the Late Holocene environment. Dr. Macāne successfully defends PhD dissertation!

On Tuesday June 7th Aija Macāne successfully defended her PhD at Gothenburg University on the mortuary archaeology of human-animal relations, with a primary focus on Zvejnieki cemetery (Latvia), and comparative insights from Skateholm I and II (Sweden) and Sakhtysh II and IIa (Russia).
