His main research focus is in radiocarbon dating and Accelerator Mass Spectrometry and is the author of the radiocarbon calibration program OxCal. He has a particular interest in the use of Bayesian statistics to help in the interpretation of archaeological and chronological information. For the project, he will be further researching radiocarbon dating and reservoir effect, Bayesian modeling, and carbon and nitrogen isotopes.
